SURVIVAL GUIDE

Tips for Year 8's to survive AC :) :3 :D

Learning: FOCUS O.O, save discussions and 'silly behaiviour' for after your work (major work) and tasks. There usually is 100minutes in each period so if you are a fast and determined learner (like me..) you will have plenty of time for fun! :D
-Also make goals (private or 'out there').
-Hand in homestudy on time.
-Collect commendations.
-Extra work! (optional but reccommended.)

Homework: May not seem like a big deal, but to teachers.. it is. Usually homestudy is completing assignments or gathering research to help you with your next class. Homework can come in many different forms such as; written essays, posters, powerpoint and ofcourse by the INTERNET.
MUST BE..
-EXCELLENCE standard (jokes but higher than acheived is good, AIM HIGH lol.)
-Handed in ON TIME.. (some teachers may extend the time if they are feeling kind enough.)
-Must be presented well. (neat handwriting helps, i dont have neat handwriting which is why I type sometimes instead.)
-NO CHEATING (Teachers can see right through you! not literally. They know if you are cheating.)
(REMEMBER they have internet access too, all they have to do is search wikepedia or copy/paste into google and you're 'stuffed'.)

Friends: It's not up to me to decide which friends you are to have.. if you havn't noticed, it's yours (or your parents ;P). But here are some tips anyways. ||
TIPS:  <|=========================
-Find the group that has the same intrests as you, or who you think you would get along with!
-If you have no friends.. SOCIALISE:D, dw f your lonely for the first few days haha. You will get to know people as you go along.
-Stay away from 'the rebels' they are disrespectful losers:). Instead just sit back and watch them embarass themselves and slowly get expelled/kicked out/suspended, if they bully you or your friends tell someone blah blah blah and if they continue just see what they would be like in the future.. and laugh! or help them.. your choice lol:) (jokes dont laugh (out loud))<--lol!! brackets in brackets!
-Unless you are wierd and attention seeking, stay away from the dramtic, crying, sobbing, raging group. They will one day backstab you or blah blahhhhhh, just stay away from them:)
-Dont label people before you know them! which is what I did.. but I can do that because when you read this I will be year ten LLOLOLOLOL >;D.
-WARNING!! STAY AWAY!!
*PEER PRESSUE!! dont give in!
*DRUGS/SMOKES/ALCHOL(alchol until your legal age. yet I still reccommend you to stay away from it.)
*BULLYING. Dont be a deppressed, jelous, stuck up,stupid desperate bully.
*DRAMA!
*FIGHTS.. that means participating and watching.
*STRANGER DANGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Teachers: HAHA goodluck! I'm sorry but I cannot help you here. I cant really tell you what teachers 'are like.' That's something you have to figure out and experience throughout college life. They can be kind, mean, wierd, useless(not at AC though), funny, blaaaahhh blaaaaaaaaah blaaaaaaaaaaahh!

HAVE FUN YEAR 9's!!!

CELEBRATIONS!!!!

CHRISTMAS:D

Christmas is a Christian Holiday to commemerate the birth of Jesus Christ:D Although this is a Christian event made to celebrate the birth of Jesus, many non-christians worldwide also celebrate Christmas but they change the true meaning into a holiday of gift giving, lighting of christmas trees, meals, display of decorations, etc. In doing this, the true meaning of Christmas is ignored.

My family celebrate Christmas by gathering together as a family and having a big meal:) We also go to Church events being held. The Church event includes coming together as a community, playing games, singing, worship and also having a bbq:D

Christmas is a very special and important occasion that I celebrate with my family, Church and community;D I can't wait......... ;3

THE BEST PART OF MY HOLIDAYS:D

In the holidays I mostly enjoyed being one of the leaders of a holiday programme. I enjoyed helping to look after and play with the children. For our trip we went to One Tree Hill Playground to fly kites and play sport. The weather was nice and sunny but windy enough for the kites to fly. After lunch we decided to climb up One Tree Hill, but instead I went to the hospital to see a new born baby :D (SOOO ADORABLE!!!) After visiting my good friend I had to head back up to One Tree Hill. We drove up the mountain to search for everyone, we had already reached the top and there was no one to be found. I looked over the edge and saw a whole bunch of excited children making 'REDEEMER ROCKS!' out of big rocks:) I rushed down to them and helped them. When the day was almost over, we hopped in the bus ready to go home. :D :D :D :D

IS THE INTERNET A DANGEROUS PLACE??

I strongly believe that the internet is a very dangerous place. Not just the internet but the people who use it and how they/we use it. These people can find out 'Private' information about certain people easily by just using the internet, the information may include; addresses, phone numbers, passwords and any other information they can find.

The internet can also be a dangerous environment for children. The internet is/can be a form of bullying, (known as cyber-bullying) which is also a great danger to the emotional, mental or maybe in later time physical health for people of any age. People may think that what they are doing is hurting other peoples fellings, well others are totally aware of what they are doing.

To prevent our personal information being exposed to all internet users we must be aware of Trolls, Spammers, Scammers, Hackers and Viruses. Also always keep this in mind "THE INTERNET CANNOT BE TRUSTED!" Any bit of personal information put up on the internet is at risk of being exposed to anyone. Strangers may talk to you via facebook, email, etc. Please note that it is very dangerous to give out personal information, it is best to ignore them instead of talking to them in the first place.

In conclusion, the internet is unsafe and an insecure place that should not be trusted. The 'online predetors' of today are using the internet to get to peoples details and are a danger to many other innocent internet users. THE INTERNET CANNOT BE TRUSTED!.

IF I COULD CHANGE THE SCHOOL I WOULD...

If I could change our school I would...

Organise more field trips for AC students. This teaches us to learn not only by text books or lecturing but by experincing it on our own as students. The field trips will give our students hand-on experiences, which will help them with deciding what they want to do when they leave school. It also keeps students aware of different things happening in our community or in our world. These field trips can be from as small as an elderly rest home visit to an overseas trip. Trips will be benificial in many ways will be very and entertaining.

I would also like to have cheaper and healthier options for our food cafeteria. Firstly, most cheap food options are unhealthy. There are barely any healthy yet cheap food to choose from, therefore I believe that it would be an important and good impact on our school.

I believe that these two ideas will effect our school positively. They also will entertain our students and will help to improve our school environment.

MY SISTERS PERFORMANCE

The time was 5:30 and we hopped off Manurewa East School playground and ran towards the hall ready to take our seats. The hall was packed with multi-cultural families and friends. The performances had everyone excited and proud of their children/friends/relatives. I thought it was a great idea to create a cultural performance especially during the world cup.

I made sure that I took a lot of photos of my sister and the samoan group as they did Samoan Traditional Dances. They were ready to perform at Manurewa Intermediate. Overall I enjoyed it and thought it was a great opportunity to show how multi-cultural, hard working and creative the school is.

RUGBY GAME

On the 18th of September, we sat patiently in the squashed van as we drove into the city. Every one was excited and ready to watch the Rugby World Cup Game WALES vs SAMOA. We had a few Welsh supporters and a whole heap of Samoan supporters.

As soon as we found a parking place we started walking up to 'The Cloud.' It was very tiring and there was a lot of traffic. As soon as we got to The Cloud, the game had already started. Wales was in the lead then Samoa scored and they were tied. As they scored a few of the hundreds of people cheered for their team. As the game hit half time we went for a long walk around the building, hoping to find people from our group who said they needed coffee.

The Cloud in Auckland City.

We searched and searched but there was no use, we could not find them. The second half of the game had already started, so we raced back to the screen to watch. Guess who we found there... The long-lost coffee-drinkers who were also crowded around the screen. As the second half of the game went on, Samoa was behind by a few points. People slowly started leaving as it grew closer and closer to the end of the game.

Finally, as we left, our Welsh supporters celebrated while we congratulated them. The final score was 17-10. Well done Wales! We found our way back to the van and went home.
